Part of the outdoor exhibit for common hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) in the Hippotopia theme in ZOO Antwerpen. This picture shows about 70% of the total exhibit of which about 90% is water. While the exhibit has no underwater viewing it is still a great exhibit and a brilliant place to observe hippos in a very pleasant environment. The building in the back is the old Hippo House, now rebuilt to modern husbandry standards.
Hippotopia opened in 2006 and is one of the newest themes in the zoo housing various wetland creatures.
