Educational displays by the sub-antarctic penguin exhibit inside Vriesland in ZOO Antwerpen. The species inside this exhibit are king penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus), subantarctic gentoo penguins (Pygoscelis papua papua) and macaroni penguins (Eudyptes chrysolophus).
The Vriesland building was opened in 1997 with an indoor exhibit for sub-antarctic penguins and outdoor exhibit for northern sea otters (Enhydra lutris lutris). The last sea otter died in 2010 and was replaced with harbor seals.
Vriesland underwent a smaller renovation in the fall of 2011 shortly after these pictures were taken, but the basic form of the exhibit is the same.
