@BlackRhino: now that is a great question! You are well aware that I personally rate Bronx's Congo Gorilla Forest as better than anything else out there for great apes, and I also highly regard DAK's gorilla exhibit and would personally rate that #2 on my list of gorilla habitats. San Diego and Seattle are two others that would be highly placed on any list, and I have never visited Busch Gardens but that is another excellent gorilla exhibit. Zoo Atlanta is great for two reasons: they have between 20-25 gorillas at all times, and there are 4 enclosures to view the numerous apes. Lincoln Park has bred perhaps 50 gorillas at the zoo and the Regenstein Center for African Apes has chimpanzees rotating through one of the exhibits which adds to the overall dynamic. I would probably go for Atlanta due to the huge amount of space and the size of the collection, but it is a tough call as Lincoln Park is arguably the #1 gorilla habitat in North America for climbing structures. All of the outdoor and indoor habitats at that Chicago zoo are packed with ropes, poles and various other climbing opportunities.
Well, you listed 9 gorilla habitats and I have visited 6 of them and they are all excellent. I'd love to make it out to Busch Gardens, Sedgwick County and Louisville one day...
