Dear Barcelona Zoo , have you been confused by the recent polemics over the Sagrada Familia Cathedral design in Barcelona? What has happened to any concept of vertical dimensionality for this Lammergeier enclosure ? Barcelona Zoo , quite rightly , used to be a zoo compared to Köln(until1992).Whatever has happened here ? Just goes to show how a couple of unfortunate miscalculations are undermining this formerly pre-eminent institution.
And worse things they are doing on the former sabana zone.... The Aquarama and Madagascar are closed since some months without saying any official reason (even on the maps and website there's no information about that they are closed).
The problem of all this new simple enclosures is that the masperplan is paused until the city council give them the money they promised. They say that we are in crisis and the remodelation of the zoo is not a priority. The new hippo enclosure of the masterplane should be built exactly where they have built this aviaries... Now, the current and awful hippo enclosure has been reduced due the construction of an elephant dormitories, and since one year ago in front of the same hippo enclosure there's a sign announcing that "we are improving the hippo enclosure, sorry for the inconveniences"
