Interesting, thanks for uploading this. You can see where they made some of the right moves over the last 23 years, but it also highlights how many species have left.
@DavidBrown The zoo has lost African Elephants, Malayan Tapirs, Nile Lechwe, Orangutans, Amur Leopards, Snow Leopards, Cheetahs, American Black Bears, Red Pandas, etc. I guess that all those species, and plenty of others, have now permanently left the collection and here is a trip report from @SwampDonkey from April 2023:
@DavidBrown a lot. This place is in sore need of major cash and more animals. But Jackson as a city is just not able to prioritize the zoo, they have constant other issues that most major cities are able to avoid but Jackson seems plagued with.
@snowleopard They allegedly still have American black bear. I did not see them on my visit, but they have posted on Facebook about them over the last year.
