I am really nostalgic for this style of zoo map. It’s the kind the Zoo New England zoos used when I was a kid.
It is interesting to see that in the years since this map was printed, the spider monkey exhibit was modified and repurposed for black bears. The other biggest change is that the llama habitat has also been replaced with Caribbean Coast, a nice complex that includes a walkthrough aviary for flamingos and other aquatic birds, and there are also outdoor exhibits for Bush Dogs and Jamaican Iguanas.
Thanks for your comments, as I find zoo maps endlessly fascinating and it's neat to learn about the changes. Some zoos are quite stagnant, while others go through periods of rapid growth.
@Neil chace Yes, they moved the entrance to be near Caribbean coast when that complex replaced the llama exhibit. The old entrance was pretty bad and makeshift, and operated out of trailers.
