When I was in the fifth grade living just north of the zoo in the Hudson Valley, we had to write formal letters to politicians & institutions. I wrote the Governor of Maine (my home state) and the Bronx Zoo. Maine sent me a pamphlet and a form letter. The zoo sent me a map! I was hooked!
