It's within the area occupied by animal exhibits, but outside the 'pay barrier' of the zoo entrance. There are monkeys, gibbons, crocodiles and various birds in this restaurant-rich area that is equally in the zoo and yet not in the zoo. The zoo cable car crosses the area as well. But it is accessible without paying an entrance fee.
There are very limited refreshment options within the zoo proper; the expectation seems to be that visitors will get a pass-out stamp to return to this section if they want food!
Having not visited this place I couldn't comment, but personnal I would say that this Restaurant and Zoo would certainly be a higher quality than those in Landau!!

Certainly I wouldn't name McDonalds a "Restaurant". No Zoo Restaurant can serve a worse food than McDonalds, and it is shame for Lisbon Zoo offering this food which comes mainly from animals, which had to suffer their whole lifes ( in even during their "death"phase) Otherwise I guess, most zoo restaurants got their meat from that animals, I don't now, because I'm vegetarian and I never eat in zoo restaurants, even if they offer vegetarian meals.
