Worked as a volunteer and over summers during high school as relief keeper at Crandon Park Zoo (long closed) in Miami, went through the Santa Fe program in the early-mid '70s, loved it but decided I liked science, went on and ended up as a professor in Australia studying lots of things but focused on herps and unfortunately had to focus on disease ecology since we were one of the early centers of amphibian declines. Found out a lot about that, retired early and enjoying life, still doing some science but only what I want.
