If it was born that recently, that would be a fourth wildebeest calf for the herd in the East Africa field exhibit!I'm not sure if it's part of the three wildebeest calves mentioned earlier in this thread, but on a safari on Friday, we saw a very tiny, new calf that the guide said was about 1 or 2 days old!
There's currently a lack of females available within the Australian population, but there is a bit of a surplus of males, so perhaps either the Zoo or the Safari Park could acquire a male or two. With quokka having spread a bit more in recent times, I would not be surprised if this is something the Zoo or the Safari Park would be interested in pursuing again.
The Flightline safari takes you through the Asian Plains for the first hour, ending with a zipline ride over it. Really fun and informative, and one of the more affordable safaris they offer. Definitely recommend. So if I were to see the Asian Plains Field Habitats which Tour would you recommend?
The only other tour (besides the Zipline Safari suggested by @safaridiariesbykb or one of the very expensive ones where you choose your own itinerary) that will guarantee viewing of the Asian field exhibits is the Cart Safari, but you will be viewing the exhibits from the outside. So if I were to see the Asian Plains Field Habitats which Tour would you recommend?
I believe that it is just the Deluxe Cart Safari that goes around the Asian field exhibits. For Cart Safari, based on the site, which selection would take you to the Asian field exhibits?
Do you know how many Indian rhino are held currently?I believe that it is just the Deluxe Cart Safari that goes around the Asian field exhibits.
There are 3.4 at the Park currently.Do you know how many Indian rhino are held currently?
The Reason I asked was because my Dad is getting annual passes next year in time for Elephant Valley.I believe that it is just the Deluxe Cart Safari that goes around the Asian field exhibits.
-There is, in fact, a pair of southern ground hornbills in this exhibit now, and a barrel nest has been installed for them as well.-There is now a southern ground hornbill in the bird exhibit across from the Nikita Kahn Rhino Rescue Center on the Africa Tram.
Recent Deluxe Wildlife Safari participant here! Here's a few things I learned when doing the tour, and yes, I got Asia and Africa!I believe that it is just the Deluxe Cart Safari that goes around the Asian field exhibits.
-1.0 Okapi "Upepo" has been moved behind-the-scenes in preparation for his eventual shipment, so he is no longer rotating on exhibit in African Woods with the other 2.1 okapi.
Interesting! Perhaps he has moved back to the okapi complex then. He is definitely supposed to move to a new facility in the next few months, though. Are you sure? I just saw Upepo in the exhibit today and confirmed with the keeper that it’s him, so he’s still there as of 12/4.
