Zoo Frankfurt Frankfurt Zoo

Hello,

I will be visiting the zoo for the first time in about a week from now. If anyone has any tips or advice, I'd be happy to hear it :)

Frankfurt Zoo News
Frankfurt Zoo is very successful in breeding Rusty-spotted Cats. In 1976, the world's first offspring of this, the world's smallest wild cat, were successfully bred here. More than 90 young animals have followed in the last 50 years. On April 23, 2025, the zoo reported two more young animals. In June 2025, two Dama gazelles were born in Frankfurt. At Frankfurt Zoo, the Dama gazelles share an enclosure with Addax gazelles. At the beginning of September, a Yellow-backed Duiker was born at Frankfurt Zoo. There are currently only 12 animals of this species living in European zoos.

In February 2025, the City of Frankfurt gave the green light for the implementation of the master plan. Germany's second-oldest zoo is to be modernized and prepared for the future in three phases by 2039. Detailed information and very interesting plans can be found at Pläne Masterplan - Zoo Frankfurt

In this context, it's worth taking a look back at the interesting development of the Frankfurt Zoo in the years after World War II. Detailed information about the new buildings and the development of the animal population can be found in the Annual Reports. Due to my move, I'm forced to hand over my extensive collection of Annual Reports (Frankfurt, Berlin, Duisburg, Nuremberg, etc.).

The five sent were; Kemabli (23), Rosa (26), Indah (17), Bukti (4) and Yori (7).

Information on the three new arrivals from Pairi Daiza:

Three females from Pairi Daiza, Sinta (31), Molly (23), and Jula (11), will be moving directly to the monkey house in Frankfurt, at the back of the building. There, they will spend the first few days quietly getting used to their new surroundings and their new caretakers. After that, they can very carefully make contact with twelve-year-old Sayang.
