West Midland Safari and Leisure Park West Midlands Safari Park news 2025

I know West Mids have referred to ‘big plans’ upcoming for the safari drive, and with there being a few areas being empties out recently (particularly the former cheetah and white lion enclosures, now most of the old tiger enclosures) I am curious as to what the plans in question might be…

More accommodation?

They have already started building some sort of enclosure where the white lions were, quite tall wire fencing looks like animal housing aswell

The former white lion enclosure could be good for any type of hyena i’d say. Or what i’d personally do is move the blesbok and barbary sheep, the blesbok into the african lowlands and the barbary sheep could go into the borderlands, they would like the hilly area in there. Then i would combine the former white lion enclosure and current grasslands enclosure and have a bear species. I think that would be really good, or maybe wolves and bears similar to knowsley.

from what i've seen recently a lot of the herds in the safari drive seem to be rather empty

BABY GIRAFFE BORN!

Watch the moment Akacia gave birth to a healthy baby girl, captured on our CCTV cameras!

Born at 6:30am on Wednesday 8 October, the leggy little one has been named Namara, which means sunshine – and she’s already brightened everyone’s day! ☀️

Namara’s arrival is extra special. She’s a Northern giraffe, a species under threat in the wild due to habitat loss and poaching. Every birth like hers is a vital boost for conservation and the European breeding programme helping to protect these gentle giants.

Akacia is an experienced mum and both are doing brilliantly, bonding in the warmth of the giraffe house. We can’t wait for guests to catch their first glimpse of little Namara very soon!

The old quarantine enclosures in African Plains are being torn down and replaced by new ones built in former Kingdom of the White Lions, while the rest of that area is being folded into African Plains.
Not as thrilling as a new animal, but it will give African Plains more grazing area, including some land that’s not been grazed for decades.
Some of African Plains has been taken over by new animal houses, lodges and the Giraffe Paddock, in addition to summers getting drier, this has led to the area turning into a bit of a dust/mud bowl. Hopefully this will help.
