Tamur, Korkeasaari’s male Amur tiger, has been euthanized at nearly thirteen years of age. The decision to euthanize came with his age and lack of further reproducing opportunities. His replacement is proposed to be a young male from Germany, which the zoo hopes could be a suitable mate for Odeya.

This is still deeply saddening news and he will be fondly remembered. He was at Korkeasaari for eleven year and that means for me, he was there since nearly the first time I ever stepped foot in the zoo. :(

He also had reportedly some health issues. Which combined to potential stress of transport was deemed too much for his life quality.

As a fan of big cats this is still heart breaking.
 
The ferryline to Korkeasaari will end. The excact schedule has not yet been published, but according to interview of Iltalehti the ferry will probably operate at least until September.

There will be "a new cetralized entrance building" according to Sanna Hellström c.o. of Korkeasaari.

This is an end of an era, as the ferry line has been operating from 1860's; even before Korkeasaari was a zoo.

Korkeasaari has announced that the spring has brought to them some baby animals.

A vicent calf, at least one baby urial and some new Finnish forest reindeers according to the pictures and facebook publication.

It’s also mentioned on the zoo’s website that she was born in Copenhagen, but strangely there still isn’t any more precise mention of which German zoo she arrived from.
 
An amur tiger male planned to be Odeya's mate has died in a routine check up at unnamed German zoo.
He was supposed to move to Korkeasaari in June.

A new male has been found from a Polish zoo and he is scheduled to arrive at Korkeasaari at end of 2025.
 
Amur tiger male, Odris, has arrived to Korkeasaari from Opole, Poland.

Emperor tamarins have got a pup. No idea what is emperor tamarin baby called in English.
Korkeasaari is very happy about the baby tamarin, as the last time an emperor tamarin was born in Korkeasaari was 15 years ago.

Also some animals (finish forest reindeers and some water birds) were transported to Korkeasaari from the former Ähtäri zoo.
 
The new official entrance to Korkeasaari was just opened to visitors last Monday 4.12., along with renovated bridge connecting it to Mustikkamaa and the newly constructed bridge connected to Nihti (Finkensilta). Physical ticket sales will hence be held on the actual zoo island from here on out.

The building, names Paanu, was built in alignment with Korkeasaari Zoo's ecological and environmentally friendly values. Along with being the entrance to the Zoo, Paanu also addionally includes (as mentioned) ticket sales, Cafe Bron, the zoo's giftshop and a 40-person conference room available for reservations.
