North American African Elephant Population 2025

Small update from Sedgwick regarding the calves' fathers via a comment on their social media. The zoo does not have paternity results yet but it is a high probability Callee is the only sire.
Adding two and two together, that would indeed be the likely result! It's no coincidence all five cows conceived mere months after Callee arrived on site, after previously failing to do so for many years beforehand.

The end of another holder it seems. Curious to see what becomes.
I'd be shocked if it wasn't White Rhinos considering they are already exhibit neighbors. They have a young future breeding pair right now so I'd expect for them to probably get a few more cows and start a breeding herd. It is a very easy replacement and has essentially become the norm for zoos that phase out African elephants.
