Currently, there are no Japanese giant salamander in European zoos, but it seems that they were kept in several zoos in Europe in the past. I think it was probably replaced by the Chinese giant salamander.
The world’s largest and rarest salamander, given that they’re a living fossil for the last 170 million years, but sadly, these incredible giants from China are now critically endangered.
