A medium sized terrestrial mammal that resembles a guinea pig or a rabbit, the rock hyrax is actually in fact related to elephants, to which they have two tiny incisor teeth that resemble mini tusks.

This specific enclosure was made and created for my exhibit showcase thread, and was designed to highlight six unique animals that call the Ethiopian Highlands their home.
I was wondering if there any particular animals that couldn't be held in an open-topped enclosure? In particular tree arboreal tree climbing animals? For instance, if someone were to make a nocturnal house with animals like bushtailed possoms, oppossums, quolls, numbats, aye-ayes, or binturongs...
I really like both.
I really like the fearlessness of humans and the cuteness quokkas have. One of my pet guinea pigs reminds me of one.
Hyraxes, the furry elephant relatives, are adorbs and are essentially Africa's answer to woodchucks. Their tusks are really intriguing.
Rock hyraxes and guineafowl in a walkthrough aviary.
That day was very insufferable, as dumbass zoo visitors kept the two doors to the aviary open at once! And they're excuse for being uneducated idiots is "Oh, we're village people!".
And don't even get me started on the aardvark...
All four species and several subspecies of hyrax are kept in european zoos. I know this because of Zootierliste. But I do not know how common they are in zoos on other continents. Do many zoos in America, Africa and The Middle East keep hyraxes? I want to know more about their natural history...
