At the Beluga Whale & Puffin Sanctuary

North Atlantic Type 1 killer whale in Breiðafjörður. Known as ‘SN289’

(From 1/8/22) Belugas had their final health check before the move back to the bay. According to an Instagram post and comments made by the sanctuary, the whales are in good health and the move is scheduled to occur within the next few weeks. Beluga Update

The latest in my line of creations, this one is situated in Island, at the rim of the Arctic circle, and thus the zoo has had to accomodate its collection to the climatic conditions. Some of the notable indoor enclosures offer a "see-through" view on the map. Species list in the description.

Essentially, I have wondered for a while why Europe is so poorly represented in Fantasy zoos. There might be a small side alley with a European brown bear, or a chamois or something, but almost never a fully-fledged exhibit, and certainly no entirely European zoos. So I'm going to make one! I...
