The interior of the Reptile House. The large vivariums on the right contain Cuvier’s dwarf caiman, Arrau river turtles, black spiny-tailed iguana, red-footed tortoise, Malagasy tree boa, Madagascan hissing cockroaches and mangrove snakes.
The small mammal house at Chester Zoo was built in 1960 and demolished in 1998 to make way for an extension of the elephant enclosure.
In 1983 the rear of the house was converted into a small nocturnal exhibit.
