One of the world’s most rarest tropical birds found in Sulawesi of Indonesia, where they are best known for laying eggs in the sand like sea turtles, but unfortunately are critically endangered from habitat loss and harvesting of their eggs.
Are there any zoos or aviaries in Indonesia that has ever kept Maleos (Macrocephalon maleo) in captivity? From what I heard they fare pretty good since they're flightless birds. I saw this pic on Jakarta Globe showing several Maleos in a cage, but I don't know where:
