Number of Species. Yes species-richness-by taxa

I have been asked and there is another forum that discussed number of species at United States zoos. I find this a very challenging question. The first question is, what's included? Any zoo, for example Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium which is often listed as having the most species...

Animals not seen in United States Zoos?

Hello, I'm a Christian author and I'm doing a bit of research for a novel I'm working on. I'm looking for animals that aren't yet seen in United States Zoos and are extremely rare. The animals in question would have to be able to survive in captivity and I would prefer mammals. Any help would...

San Diego Zoo How to see the Striped and Spotted Hyenas?

I'll be going to San Diego Zoo June 8th and possibly June 9th. As is fairly obvious I am indeed a huge hyena enthusiast, and with them keeping 2 species behind the scenes I would absolutely love to get to see them. Is there any way I could do this? Are there any keepers I could speak with?

mixed species enclosures with turtles and mammals?

I haven't seen any mixed-species enclosures where mammals are mixed with aquatic or semi-aquatic turtles, although it seems like there are some that share environments and could feasibly be housed together. Can anyone think of examples, or is there a reason why they haven't been mixed?

South American mammals in West Europe vs USA/Canada

I noticed that Western European zoos have a much better collection of Central & South American mammals than US & Canadian zoos. You guys have a better carnivore collection including more zoos with Bush Dog, and also have grison and small cats like Oncilla and Margay that are not (or nearly so)...

Mammals that you have seen in the wild

I don't know if there is already a thread for this, but I couldn't find one (actually, I find it odd that there isn't one). I know a lot of people here have seen a lot of animals in the wild, and don't remember all of them, but lists about mammals you've seen in the wild are shorter and and are...

Which EDGE mammal interests you more: The red panda or the aye-aye ? (poll)

Another poll in a series for zoochatters to vote for one of two EDGE mammal species. This time it is a contest of a species traditionally considered "cute / cuddly" and one typically seen as "weird / spooky": the aye-aye vs the red panda. Both are arboreal mammals, both are classified as...

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo Species list help for Omaha Zoo

Hey guys. Couldn't think of a creative title that wasn't too long but I have been researching for weeks now on ALL the species Omaha Zoo currently holds. Focusing only on Mammals for right now, I found lots of photographs or mentions in forums and media posts on this site, on national geographic...

hey y'all I'm trying to figure out something and that is what white rhino did Catskills game farm had before they closed? I found out it was a white rhino but don't know if it's the northern or southern species of white rhino. His name was apparently Boom Boom. The reason I'm asking this despite...

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo Which of these mammals I have listed moved out of the Omaha Zoo?

Hey y'all so on my previous thread I wanted to know all the mammals Omaha Zoo currently has, but then I decide to redo the list especially after I found out that this website called Global Species had a list of animals at the Omaha Zoo. But when I went through that list I notice some aniimals...

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo What are ALL the mammals Omaha Zoo CURRENTLY have?

Okay so I am writing down all the mammals omaha zoo has currently. I been on their website a million times and there is not a animal page, yes there is a exhibit page but the exhibit doesn't list most just gives a generalization of the species that are at the zoo. So I decide to write down the...

    Wild Animal Observation Data

I was just wondering what websites are good for keeping track of wild animal observations? I use ebird.org for all my bird lists, but I haven't found any websites that I really like for mammals or herptiles. I use inaturalist.org for those species, but it doesn't tabulate data like ebird does...

Hello all! List below: 1. Russia...
