This thread is for discussing zoos which house only species native to the region they are located in. This includes domestics and exotic species used as representatives for local species which cannot be kept. Feel free to talk...
Obviously, zoos exhibit all kinds of animals from all over the world. But which zoo do you think does the best job of displaying wildlife native to the region/area where the zoo is located? (Everglades, Rockies, Pacific Northwest, etc.)
Heidelberg Zoo 2021
This Aviary Houses some of the Zoos rarest Animals. The Reed Buntling can only be found in 3 Other european Zoos. The Bluethroat can even be found only in the Plzen Zoo and of course in Heidelberg.

Do you prefer zoos that focus solely on native species, or zoos that focus solely on foreign species?
Examples:
- Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum: Native
- London Zoo: Foreign
- Wildwood (Britain): Native
- Rotterdam Zoo: Foreign
I prefer a mixture of both native and foreign species as I enjoy...
After looking through Zootierliste, I observed that few zoos keep native european bird species such as european tits, robins etc.
