In pretty much every Zoo I visited, even modern and big exhibits, great apes have no acces to trees, they are either weired, to stop the apes to climb on them, or are not even present. My question is why. (With few exeptions like the Gorilas exhibit in Apenheul) Zoos don't give them acces...

Do you know of any mammal enclosures in zoos with completely natural looking barriers? By natural looking barriers, I mean: - Moats (dry and wet) - Walk-through (such as lemur and squirrel monkey walk-through's) - Natural fences (such as large rocks, vertical logs or bamboo etc.) (for example)...

The lion enclosure in Copenhagen Zoo. Though it's not the biggest enclosure you could think of, the lions still have a fair amount of space here. There is also quite a bit of natural vegetation in here. The lions here are african lions. Taken in Copenhagen Zoo, 2006.
