Hello!
I am interested in booking the Deluxe Behind-the-Scenes Safari at the SDZ Safari Park. However, the description given on the webiste seems pretty vague. I've tried calling the zoo for more info, but they seem hesitant to make any definitive statements. I understand that this is because...
Henry Vilas Zoo Not News – History and Other Fantasies
I am starting a thread to discuss: questions, controversies, memories, and other topics about the Henry Vilas Zoo that are not news or current events.
I will be starting with a couple context pieces about issues that have been previously...
Might be a bit of weird topic, but has there been any zoo animals that you’ve come to know personally? (be it working with them, maybe meeting them in an animal encounter or behind the scenes tour, etc.)
I've always had two very big (or I think they're big) questions about zoos, so I wanted to ask here to see what others think.
Firstly, what's the average count of unique animal species in a zoo? Or, what is a good amount of unique species in a zoo? And secondly, more of an opinion question I...
I am going on a trip to Indianapolis this week, and I am really trying to squeeze in a visit to the zoo while I am there.
I am arriving this Wednesday, and returning home on Monday. My original plan was to go to the zoo on Sunday, but now my weather app is predicting that it will be raining...
Hi Zoochatters.
I’m looking for some advice, information, and recommendations for some German zoos I’m planning to visit later this month.
First, my itinerary is looking to be the following:
Saturday 19th – arrive in Berlin (late)
Sunday 20th – Otterzentrum
Monday 21st – Tierpark Berlin...
I see a lot of people complaining about species. They see to often in zoos *coughs meerkats. But here is a diffrent question. What species of animals, would like too see more often. For me it would definativly be Muskox and Slothbears. Both are quite rare animals in captivity.
As you will see, I am still new to Zoochat, so don't be surprised to hear questions coming from me.
Since most of these will be small questions, I will post them all in one thread as they pop up.
Currently the main questions I have had are connected to peafowl. Are free ranging peafowl the...
What species in Canada are only held by one institution? One example I can name would be West Caucasian Turs at Toronto Zoo (Edmonton Valley Zoo did have them, but they past away). As @TheGerenuk mentioned, it also hold Chamois, which are the only ones in North America, let alone Canada.
Are there any zoos which have areas themed around Europe? This is tricky, since most of the fauna is very similar to or literally the same species of those of North America, but I think focusing on specific regions could work. I myself have imagined exhibits themed around the chalk downs of...
I have been doing some in-depth research into Chester Zoo recently and I found a few facts which I wondered if any one else on this sight knew or can remember.
Some of the questions will be easy to some but a few may be a little bit trickier. Also, no blind guesses and please give a reason for...
