the outside enclosure for the orang-utans is very original. A lot of high poles with ropes above the visitors. It is called "apen op stelten" which translated into something like "Monkeys on stilts"
the tigerwoods in ouwehand is a big enclosure. The siberian tigers used to have 2 enclosures (1 big for a female + cubs and 1 for the male) but since the zoo started with white tigers they "only" have the big enclosure left. the couple of white tigers lives in the smaller enclosure.
The afican section in Ouwehand is called Umkhosi. There is are enclosures for giraffes+impalas, zebras, meerkats, mongooses, wrathogs, and lions (white and "yellow"), bongo and mandrill. Here a small part of the white lion enclosure.
The old "cat-gallery" has a couple of these cages. Until recently there was an amurleopard living in there. Now there are some temporary inhabitants like fishing cats, eagles, turtles etc. This will be destroyed in the near future to make room for new enclosure for (probably)...
