subspecies

I've been thinking of using generic ostrich in lieu of Arabian ostrich, and I'm wondering if something similar has been done in zoos already. Afterall, many large animal species exant today, such as lions and leopards, historically had much wider distributions than today.

After the success of my elephant thread, I thought I'd make a similar one, just this time featuring giraffes :)

Sorry if this thread already exists but I thought Id make a post for a bit of fun to see which elephant sub species people like the best. :)

I have seen markhor in the United States collections referred to as Turkmenian markhor, Tadjik Markhor, and Bukharan markhor. It is my understanding that this is the same subspecies, Capra falconeri heptneri. Are the markhor found here in the United States of America only of this subspecies...

These are new animals, and my friend pointed out that they didn't exactly look like the southwestern subspecies kept so far.

Hello Everyone! Which Asian Elephant subspecies would do like to se represented more in zoos. Currently there are 4 main subspecies, the Sumatran Elephant, Indian Elephant, Sri Lankan Elephant, and Bornean Elephant. There are also the Javen and Malayan Elephants but scientists have not yet...

Does anybody know anything about Goldman's Jaguar. The only info I have found is that Cameron Park zoo has them and that they live in Central and North America. I'm slightly confused by it's taxonomical existence so if anybody has any information on them that would be great.
