Tapirus indicus | I finally got to see "Baby Ume" (as they call her). She was born back in the winter and recently made her public debut. She was sleeping in the sun, right next to her mom just out of frame. You can see some faint juvenile markings still on her
The only tapir species to live in Asia, outside of the Americas, only found in the tropical lowland rainforests of Malaysia to Sumatra in Indonesia.

One of the largest of the tapir species, found in Central and South America to which are found in tropical rainforests to mangrove forests, where they reside in water where they love to cool off since they’re semi-aquatic.
Back in September 2011, I saw Kejutan, a baby malayan tapir (m) who has been born just a few days earlier at Port Lympne in Kent, UK.
As a child, he was the catalyst to my love for tapirs - and I still have pictures of my first encounter with him hung on my wall! Having visited Port Lympne again...
This tapir was taking a good rest when I saw the creature lying down on the sand while the other animals were doing their thing as usual. :p
