Does anyone have any information and/ or images of Natalie Evans & Molly Badham's first Zoo, in Hints? I would also be interested in knowing, just for interest, the year it opened and closed, (presumably 1962/3, in the latter case). There are one or two old videos of chimpanzees on Youtube...

He had just been given a couple of Christmas trees with food in them, and while eating one of the treats, he looks up/left/right and I took a series of pictures, and this was in the middle of that series, how adorable!

How many species of primate does Twycross Zoo have? Does anyone have an up-to-date list of the primates in their collection? Besides lemurs do they have any other type of prosimians? Do they choose to specialise in some primate taxa? When I last went I remember they had quite a few...

After visiting the website today they have said that they have only just kicked off the 50th anniversary due to recent visit of 'lady Gretton' and that there are a whole lot of tributes, commemorative books ect. to come. Didn't they celebrate they're 50th anniversary last year though?

The news get worse from Twycross, 3 keepers have been sacked after allegedly beating "TONZI", one of the zoo's Asian elephants with bamboo canes. The keepers have been arrested and questioned. Grim reading, can the zoo really recover in the eyes of zoochatter and the public at large...
