Loxodonta Cobra's two threads about "Unnecessary Zoo Tycoon 2 animals" and what animals we expect in zoo games got me thinking more about the selection of species in various zoo games. The aforementioned threads demonstrate that we all have certain expectations about what animals will be...
Zoo Tycoon Board Game
I can’t imagine my childhood without the iconic PC game; and now there’s a board game version coming soon.
Crowdfunding campaign begins October 25:
In Zoo Tycoon The Board Game, 2-4 players compete to build the most recognized zoo. In this strategic and thematic board...
Loosely based on my playthrough of the Zoo Tycoon 1 scenario "Breeding giant pandas", this rather complete collection, though about three weeks late, is here for your scrutiny.
Species list in the comments.
PS; I even tried to adapt this very map into Planet Zoo.
Last on this list of new houses for Zoo Tycoon 1, the seabird aviary brings you some of the world's most famous aquatic avians from the subpolar regions.
Animal sets in the comments.
A somewhat more cartoonish version, the Abyssal Aquarium is open for scrutiny.
Next up, the very last house I've designed for the ZT1 universe.
Animal sets in the comments.
No, not yet! I still have four more houses to cram out! XD
In all seriousness, these are disputed concepts that I made up and decided to design, as I believe they could have been very good assets for the game's roster.
Next up, the extinct bird aviary.

Last in line for the Dino Digs houses, the giant insect house presents its gargantuan arthropods to the public!
Next up, we're going to the houses exclusive to the complete collection (of which only one was actually there).

This time, we have an entirely made up Synapsid House, with many Triassic and Permian favourites.
Next up, the brand new giant insect house!

That other house from the original dino digs, now in full detail!
Next up, we go to another made-up house with Permian animas.

On this first entry of the Dinosaur Digs animal houses (of which only the first two are actually from the game), the Pterosaur House is back with illustrations recreating the original icons!
Next up, the lepospondyli house.

Originally bereft of animal sets, I've decided to add some myself.
Next up, I'll complete this 4-set of animal houses with a brand new one from my own imagination...
Animal sets in the comments!
This time, the crustacean house gets some attention. Bear in mind, the path includes stairs and two floors.
Next up, I'll take some liberties with the shark tunnel.
Animal sets in the comments.
So, this is a bit of a cheat; the original petting zoo doesn't have any animal sets to choose from, so I made them up! Feel free to tell me which you would rather pet.
Next up, we're plunging deep into Marine Mania!
Species list in the comments.
The last of the original Zoo Tycoon animal houses, the insect house (which should be called invertebrate house) is featured today!
Next up, we have an animal house of sorts which didn`t have animal sets, but I decided to make them myself: the Petting Zoo!
Animal sets in the comments:
Happy New Year everybody! Enjoy this map of the Zoo Tycoon 1 Reptile House, and please tell me what animal set would appeal to you the most.
Next up: the Insect House!

It is a common trope in zoo simulators that there are minimum and maximum amounts of foliage, and specific species of plant tolerable in an exhibit. To me these restrictions are unrealistic, unnecessarily restrictive, and immersion breaking.
I understand the minimum foliage requirement...
A new map, based on Zoo Tycoon's Primate house. Please comment which of the animal sets would appeal most to you!
Next up, the Reptile House!
