Tape Guide to Chester Zoo

I was tidying up earlier this evening and in an old box of cassettes I was surprised to find a tape entitled Tape Guide to Chester Zoo.

I did not even know I had it. The receipt was with it and I purchased it on 29th May 1991, the cost was £5.

It seems to have been for use with headphones which were hired from the kiosk between the aquarium and parrot house. The visitor followed a route marked by pink arrows.

I've just listened to it and it is interesting. Both sides are the same. The marrator is Nick Davies who also did the monorail commentary.

There are fifteen tracks on the tape. Most tracks have a main subject and a short piece about nearby animals or attractions.

1.Orang Utans also mentioning Waldrapp Ibis.

2.Chimpanzees also mentioning the award winning gardens. The commentary notes that patas monkeys occupy the old gorilla island.

The commentary ends with a reminder to return tape to kiosk.

I had a copy of that, isn't it Nick Davies from the Really Wild Show doing the narration?

EDIT: sorry I just realised you said that!

Oops, but I'm sure the £5 covered it. :o

I vaguely remember listening to a short section of that tape, but it'd be fascinating to hear it all. It'd still be possible to follow most of the route too, with only part one being a problem.

I think they were for hire, or for sale.
