:( 34 Andean Condors were found dead around a poisoned cat carcass. This was probably intend for foxes, Cougars or eagles, but this is a hard hit on the condor's population.

Where was this? Is there an article?

So it happened in Mendoza Argentina, when the animal rights groups are busy dismantling the local zoo. Again, what you do not see, you do not love.

Good point @carlos55 !

In truth the Mendoza zoo did need a hell of a lot of work and to be remodelled / reformed.

However, it could well have gone down the route of keeping native species, focusing on their ex-situ conservation and of course educating the public of the plight of these.

Let's hope the problem of vulture poisonings happening in Africa and Asia isn't spreading into Latin America.

I think that the old world and new world vultures are both going through steep declines but I don't think that the poisoning crisis has spread from those regions into Latin America.

However, I do think that there are similarities in the sense of being threatened by similar anthropogenic drivers like habitat destruction, secondary poisonings from carcassess and that the body parts of the condor are also used in traditional medicine practices leading to overexploitation.
