why not? And it isn't a corpse, it is a skin on a mount. A corpse would be pretty stinky by now.

sorry, I thought you were being deliberately provocative by calling it a "corpse". A corpse is a dead body (as in, the entire dead body of a recently deceased creature). The skin mounted as a taxidermy specimen is not a corpse, it is just a skin. I'm not sure of which single word you could have used in the title instead. Something like "A stuffed [or mounted] Knut on tour" or "Taxidermied Knut on tour". They are a bit clumsy as titles though.
Anyway, I don't know what the articles you saw actually said, but I certainly think a taxidermied Knut could be useful for educational purposes. He was a very famous polar bear, especially in Europe (probably more so than in the rest of the world). A random stuffed polar bear wouldn't gather anywhere near as much interest because there is no personal connection. Knut however will draw people simply because he was famous, and that is an immediate chance to inform the viewers. And it may even cause people to care about global warming because the information is packaged with a famous polar bear which makes it hit home more. Sure some people may find it distasteful but far more will go see him, and hopefully some will take in the messages provided.
