Yes she is pregnant although I don't know when she's due. Zac went to another zoo some time ago. On my last visit in early August her last calf Shadow was missing so I am assuming that she has also been sent elsewhere.

You just need arms 1.5 metres long, so you can hold any camera nice and close to the wire!
The serious and sensible answer is that you need a long focal length to throw the wires so far out of focus that they are invisible. On my Nikon bodies (DX format) it is around 400mm, which is the equivalent of 600mm on a 35mm film camera. It will be different on other makes with different sensor sizes, but I guess you would need at least 12x optical magnification - and more for smaller sensors.
It's probably cheaper to go to another zoo and shoot the lions there :)

The website is stating that the Sulawesi crested macaques are coming off show from the 3rd of October until further notice, anyone know why?

 Not sure why, I would of asked today if I knew?

Also anyone know whats happening with the Elephant herd? As Tunga seems to be seperated a bit nowadays.

Also the Warty Pigs are in there new enclosure. :D

might be he is moving out (tunga)

and with the macaques maybe something has happen where they dont want them disturbed?

I would think it's more likely something to do with maintenance work in the macaque enclosure. I have no idea if this is true or not.

The reason why the Sulewesi Macaques are screened off is that they have had some new individuals in and want them to settle in as quietly as possible, hence the screening over the windows. There are notices up explaining this.

Thanks for the info Peafowl. Are the Mandrills on show or are they also off show?

Does anybody know if they plan on trying to mate patna and batchii anytime soon?

Also now that the warty pigs have been moved what is going to happen to there enclosure?

Patna & Batchii are only just becoming of breeding age, so I would give it a couple more years yet.

Only one pair and offspring of Warty Pigs have moved the others are still in the old enclosures.

Speaking of Patna, has anybody noticed his limp? I noticed it for the first time last sunday, there is a sign saying it is due to him breaking his leg when he was younger.

That is my best guess, is getting a big boy now and am sure will have a huge set of tusks when he is fully grown.

Sure I read somewhere that he was earmarked for a move to Germany. Don't know when or if this will happen.
