A Zoo In Your Backyard (If You Have A License)

I was quite amazed when I saw this but Defra, Uk, allow you to have extremely exotic pets with the right license and other needs.

I Saw Animals Such As Elephants,Rhino's, Tigers, All Possible Pets In The UK

Have A Look

Another Thing That Suprised My Is You Dont Need This Type Of License For Certain Species Duch As Squirrel Monkeys, wooly lemur and aardwolf

I Was Like O and All I Could Say Was

Give Us Your Opinion And If You Have Any Animals On The Act I Would Love To Hear From You...

Have you looked at the process required to obtain one of these licenses and then obtaining the animals?

I think it is roughly £170 p/a for a DWA license, but then you have to have an inspection of the facilities and actually obtaining elephants, rhinos, tigers etc is nigh on impossible unless you are well connected or have a big wallet...

Also check out the requirements in America, as I think you will find them much more shocking than the stringent UK laws!

i do know the requirments, i think, every website i have seen show the same thing, this is below....

Dangerous Wild Animals Act

Although It Does Not Mean I Want An Elephant Or Any Exotics, Dont Have The Money,

I Know Someone with 3 wallabies and she is thinking of getting meerkats,

but what amazed me is how easy it is to get these exotics if you have the money

i guess aswell, there would be different requirments for differents states, which is something i do not want to look into lol, no offense

I'm afraid you can't run with a zoo with a DWA licence. You can keep the animals, but you can't allow the public to see them for more than a couple of days per year.
If you open a collection of animals for visitors you need a zoo licence, unless you keep domestic species only. The conditions are much more stringent, because the safety of the staff and the visitors must be assured, as well as the conditions for the animals. You must also show evidence of your educational and conservation efforts. Look it up on the DEFRA website.

well so it should be, i meen when its your pet, you know how to care for it properly, but if the public were wonderin about all the time licenses should be stricter, for example, you allways get some idiot kid danglin over the fence of the enclosure, safety would be higher...

I know of far too many cases where sadly that just isn't the case (why do you think there are so many pet rescue adverts on TV?) and many times it is because some one buys an "exotic" and doesn't have a clue how to properly accomodate them.

Too often the case with reptiles, many people buy turtles and they're told they'll "grow with their tank". It infuriates me

sadly its true, thats why we always research into pets before we get them, unlike my friends ( we now currently have their hamster), although i do agree with you, alot of people do look after their pets and even exotic pets properly

my aim in life is to become a vet and have alot of pets, but not to many so i can handle them, id save alot in vet bills

here in Mexico supposedly there are checks against exotic animals held without proper licenses , but i know of a very wealthy young lady who for very shallow reasons keeps a without a license jaguar in a compound at her house in the north of Mexico city in a place called Desierto de los leones. I also knew some people in my neighourhood in colonia Tlalpan who kept a young Howler monkey and a spider monkey without permits and obviously from the illegal animal trafficking here , i reported it to the appropriate authorities but nothing was done.
