On April 10th, the zoo announced they started constructing a new perimeter fence around the Mexican grey wolf exhibit, which was completed in late spring 2024.

On August 15th, the zoo announced they finished working on a new education center, which will open sometime in the near future.

This project was done with the help of the 29th Attack Squadron "Ghost Warriors", who put in over 700 hours of volunteer time during construction. Thanks to their tireless determination and effort, as well as generous donations from the community, we were able to transform the space from a run down and empty building into a new interactive learning center for the children of Alamogordo and Otero County. We are working to finish final preparations on the space so that we can open it to the public. Keep an eye out for updates on the opening of the center so you can come visit us as soon as possible. | Alameda Park Zoo

* Worth mentioning that the zoo acquired a male (1.0) Bactrian camel in August 2024, and (1.1) red junglefowl and (1.1) ringed teals in November 2024, as well as the birth of a (1.0) alpaca named Timmy (also in November 2024). Also worth mentioning that the zoo completed enhancements on the Mexican grey wolf exhibit in July 2024, and that a group of fallow deer briefly escaped before being recaptured in August 2024.
