IMPOSSIBLE?
NOT FOR ALTINA!!
Altina is the only privately owned zoo EVER to breed the African Hunting Dogs in Australian History AND WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!
With not one, but TWO litters of puppies being born!
Two separate packs of dogs have bred successfully this year, which was thought to be impossible when housed side by side.

One breeding pair are experienced parents, knowing exactly what to do, which has resulted with a gorgeous litter of FOUR male puppies that have just ventured out of their dens just a few days ago!

The second breeding pair, are first time parents and have had a staggering litter of SEVEN (4 males & 3 females) very active, healthy puppies.

THIS BRINGS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF WILD DOGS BORN AND BRED AT ALTINA from 21 to 32!!!!!!!

Are they still there?

Both the Red Pandas are there.

I was there a bit over a week ago at the end of the school holidays. It was very busy and I think they said they had about 250 visitors do the tour that day.

The baby Ring Tailed Lemur was jumping around and quite active.
The male Servile was not cooperative and would not come over for his treat. He was only partially visible behind a log in the back of the enclosure. They have a young female they plan to pair him with, but she was in the other enclosure and we could not see her.
The two female Zebras are separate from the males as they are both pregnant.

Next time I go my kids want to do the Meirkat experience and go in with them as that looked good. The visitor in there doing the Meirkat experience while we were there had a Meirkat sitting on her shoulder to get a better view for predators.
