Hi every1
Just a short note to say that i'm visiting Alton Towers on the 1st of September with a few mates. The park have just built a brand new Aquarium named "Shark-Bait Reef" and it seem's that no one here on ZooChat has visited it or posted anything about it. I'll take loads of photos and write a review of it and tell u if it's worth a visit. I have visited Alton Towers before, but not with the aquarium, and as the website suggest the aquarium is in the "Pirate" themed area which is for primary school children and there is one hell of a lot of noise comming from that area which could disturb the fish! but usually british zoos in theme parks are all-right, to be honest WMSP and Busch-Gardens (Florida) and DAK (florida) are the only parks with zoos i have ever visited and they all seem all-right and also i have heard really good things about british theme parks with zoos. Also i really doubt that an extremely high-standard park like Alton Towers will fail animal welfare. The aquarium is Pirate themed with models of pirates in the tanks i belive! It is a Sea-Life Aquarium and it looks like they have the average touch a "sting-ray pool" and average Sea-Life tanks and attractions. The attraction im looking forward to most of all is the only "Interactive tropical water tank" in britan. Here is the Alton towers link Sharkbait Reef ? Attractions ? Theme Park ? Alton Towers Resort. I'll write my review as soon as i get home and but my photos will take a long time, sorry.

I have been twice since it opened and it is really good. It's well worth a visit if you are at the park and you an get really close to some of the animals. I thought the open topped ray tank was really good although some stupid school kids kept trying to put there hands in it and the staff had to ask them to leave!

I saw this on an advert last night and I was unsure whether it was new or not but you just answered my question :p I know you can't really use a flash in these places but if you manage to get some good pics without it then I'm sure we would all love to see them. Has anyone been to visit the London aquarium since they re-vamped it? is it much different to what it looked like before?

I've been to the aquarium and it was pretty good, could of done with being a bit larger, less noisy and less busy. The hog nosed rays were really good. Not spectacular, but alright.
