Toronto Zoo Americas Outdoor Paddocks Area Review

Im going to redo this one as the last on of this was extremely outlandish in my mind.

jaguar habitat:I think there habitat is very nice lookin but a bit small.I like the pool, the head and just about everything plus i love the holding.Maybe they should keep this habitat the same size but since the capybara are gone, they should renovate the open air area so the jaguars can't et into the river and can't get out but they could have that area as well. Then, they could begin breeding since there are two yards. They'd just have to send one of th jaguars ou and ge a new one.The new yard could have be a bit like the last one with a small pool and a glass viewing plus maybe another temple resting part. The mesh in the other yard is ok in my mind as its not extremely heavy.
Maybe just add a big fake fallen tree to rest on and hang a boomer ball off of.

spider monkey habitat:The habitat is very good in my mind.It has lots of climbing space, good viewing and a nice little river. The mesh is ok here as they do climb it.Maybe just add a few trees or a fake one. Also,in the winter, they should have an exhibit in Tropical Americas.Mix in spoonbill and tamandua as well to the habitat.

flamingo habitat:This one is another really cool one as even though the fence is tiny, they stay in,then again...they may have clipped there wings. The river here is good and so is the land area.Maybe just expand it a bit more and then add capybara. Also, since there is mesh partially underwaer connecting sepertaing the river in the monkey and flamingo area, they should make an underwaterdoor so the capybaras can enter both habitats.

waterfall:although this has nothing to do with animals,it is awesome that you can enter behind a waterfall.Maybe adding some signage up there would be cool.

Addition:Maybe adding golden lion tamirins free ranging,a few reptile tanks,a walkthrough aviary, giant otters in the river in summer and a walkthrough temple area would be cool with artifacts and such from South American Temples.

Zoogoer you should continue this review with the old exhibits. The llama, polar bears, dall sheep, and maras!

Closed Paddocks

Mara:The mara habitat was something i only saw once. They weren't on exhibit bu it was just a grassy yard.Maybe they should renovate it for some kind of summer home for giant anteater and rhea.Mayeb expnad it out and add pampas grass

Llama:it reminded me of a cattle yard.It was spacious and nice but it was extremely bland and boring. They probably should have had something a bit more exotic like vicuna or south american tapir. The fencing was also very gross looking chainlink. What is going here now?

Dall's Sheep:I actuall liked this exhibit quite a bit.It had a nice bit of cllimbing room but they ground was just gross pavement.Maybe since there not building over the dall sheep yard, they should add a type of North American Sheep like bighorn or dalls' once again.

Polar Bear:My least favourite exhibit in the Americas Paddocks area.It was all just concrete with rocks and an actually ok pool.I like the viewing in thee underwater viewing although it was ver sterile and dank feeling down there. It was a bit small for three polar bears but the climbing rocks were nice. The maternity yard was extremly small and funny looking but then again,it was just for cubs. When Tundra Trek is finished, they should have a maternity yard but bigger. The big yard should be built like the habitat at Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat (which is about three mintues away from my grandma). It is very grassy and has lots of trees which makes it resemble an arctic summer plain. The pool is also rocky and the viewing is great but the poo is a bit small.there is also a part where you can swim in a pool ajacent to the polar bear pool. That would be awesome at Toronto Zoo.

Great Reviews!

Where the mara and llama exhibits were is where the Musk ox exhibit will be placed, unless the cutbacks are made final there may be a change of things. Just take a look at the plan and you can easily sort it out. There is a building beside the Musk Ox and Reindeer Holdings (Thats the temple) and the cone shaped thing beside that is the waterfall.

Another fine review.

The llama and polar bear exhibits were the least favorite for me as well. As much as I adore the TZ and know that there are far worse enclosures in other zoos, I wasn't too sad to see them go :P

And it was for the better too as the polar bears are getting a great new area
