In Brazilian zoos islands are typically used for larger New world primates such as spider monkeys, capuchins, howler monkeys and exotic / Old world monkeys whereas Callitrichids are typically kept in caged enclosures. In Europe I have seen islands used for Callitrichids including the black lion tamarin (at Bristol zoo).
