Animals been phased out or are being phased out of UK zoos and aquariums

Does any one know which animals are either being phased out or have been phased out of UK zoos and aquariums and why they where phased out weather it be for welfare reasons or due to Extinction.

Look for any EAZA Regional Collection Plans online - most recently produced documents should give an outline of species they are in the process of phasing out and why. I was involved to a very minor degree with the initial draft of the Waterfowl and Pelecaniforme RCP, and many species I was asked to write an overview for were on the "phase out" list.

Species are usually assigned to a phase out list because they are very common and of a low conservation concern, taking up space that could be used for more at risk species in need of more holders. For example, there is a push for EAZA zoos to phase out rhesus macaque in favour of Sulawesi macaque (The EEP is desperate for new holders with an excess of young males).

Here's a link to the EAZA page whih outlines current programmes - you'll see a link to a PDF on the page which provides a full list of current EEP and ESB's. You'll have to search for RCP's yourself to see which species are specifically on the "phase out"... Hope this helps either way!

I don't know this as well for I am not from england but didn't DEFRA force every zoo to phase out raccoons, raccon dogs, and coatimundi?

Europe has the Alien Species of Union concern, which heavily restricts the import, breeding and release of invasive species, with racoon and South American Coati among them. However, it only applies to the European Union, of which the UK doesn’t belong to. So it would make sense for them to have been phased out for a while in the UK (and Europe too, but I’m not sure how the law affects the EAZA and such) but nowadays there may be other laws in place.
