So I just picked up this really neat book the other day for a friend of mine and ended up looking through some of the chapters. I don't really agree with what they have to say about zoos but the book as a whole is pretty interesting. Definitely an eye opener. It's "Animals Matter" by Marc Bekoff and Jane Goodall. The only reason I didn't like the chapter about the zoos is due to the fact they make all zoos sound like cruel contraptions. Sure there are zoos and parks out there that do not have the proper care for their animals but that doesn't mean that all of them do. Setting the animals free from a zoo that meets all their needs would be like running into someone’s home and shouting "go go, your free now!" and driving them out. It's not fair to say that all zoos are cruel when there are zoos out there that really take the time to pamper and care for their animals. What do you guys think about this issue or this book?
