Animals not seen in United States Zoos?

This is very helpful information! The more I hear about the Javan Green Magpie, the more intrigued I become.

For right now, I'm definitely leading toward either the Javan Green Magpie or a Pangolin species that is yet to be housed in American Zoos.

Any additional information you'd like to share about these two, that may be fitting for the story, I'd be most interested in hearing it.

Thank you for the PDF! I'm getting ready to dive into that.

For pangolin species it's really just limited to Sunda pangolins or Chinese pangolins. They are the only non tree pangolin's(arboreal) to survive(and sometimes thrive) in captivity. Ground pangolins gennerally only have sucess in captivity in there native range. You probably all ready know what the species does when stressed. For the concept of the story the pangolin should probably be taken live for to be sold as a illegal pet or for the scales of which they would plan to kill later. There are some fake online organizationns that illegally just sell pangolin scales rather than protect pangolins. So for storyline you could base it off that. Its also important to note that they are solitary. Meaning if you are doing a breeding pair they would need to be in separate crates.

As for the Javan green magpie a lot is explained in the PDF. For the birds to be realistic, the birds should have a large reaction to stress. As they become extremly agitated when caught. I also said earlier if the trafficker does catch the birds the birds would probably fade in color becoming duller due to a lacking diet and stress. The birds are carnivorous but will occasionally eat fruit, something to keep in mind of while writing the novel. The birds would also have a very high price if sold due to the rarity of the birds globally.

I would recommend more reaserch for either animal you choose . You should probably note that information on the Javan green magpie is limited due to lack of knowledge of the species outside European zoos.

You've been such a huge help! I honestly haven't heard of these animals before now. I'm not too familiar with exotic animals. That's why I want to do a lot of research and make sure I do this right.

I've read over the PDF for the Javan Green Magpie a bit. There is a lot of information in there to get started. I thank you again for that.

I'm also searching for information on Pangolins. I'll focus my search on the Sunda and Chinese specifically now, thanks to your input. After I do a bit more research on the two, I'll decide which animal to go with for the story.

Either way, I would love to add your name to the dedication page when I finish, for all of your help. If you would mind, that is. If so, you can email privately at author.danielle.cress@gmail.com
