Twycross Zoo Antelope at Twycross

Reading the thread about the mystery ungulate coming to Chester, i was interested to see a hartebeest kept at Twycross in 1963.
Personally i had never heard of this animal being kept at Twycross, then got to thinking the only antelope i know have been held at Twycross were the all male group of mhorr gazelle.
I think there were nilgai at the collection at Hints, or was it Twycross?

Have there been any other antelope species held at Twycross, i know they specialise in primates, but the collection has a very general feel about it, but i have been surprised at the lack of antelope.
And by the lack of hoofstock in general, this seems to be changing with the arrival of Michies tufted deer and vicuna recently.
 
Yes according to my very first Twycross guidebook, the zoo did keep Hartebeest but I don't know how long they have kept them. There is even a photo of it in the book.

I also remember the zoo with their 3 male Mhorr Gazelles too but have moved to other collections last year due to the current work going on. I hope the zoo will get more Gazelles and Zebra in the future.

As far as I'm aware, I can't remember any other Antelope species kept at Twycross, but we have had a good few Deer species over the years. I will need to look through all 20 odd guidebooks that I have.

Where did the Michies Tufted Deer come from and how many are there at the zoo? I went on Sunday but couldn't see any at all
 
I can't remember on where the Tufted Deer came from. At the zoo, they are situated in the enclosure next to the Dholes, and I think we have 2.

They had one Kongoli when I first visited Twycross just after it opened in 1963, think it lived in the Elephant House, previously the owners of Twycross had a small zoo at Hints near Lichfield, think they had a Nilgai then,as for deer remember they hadsome chinese water deer, and also remember Grants Zebra being there as well.

They came from Rotterdam and the zoo currently has 2.1 the female arrived about 9 months ago before that they just had the 2 males.
