Chester have had at least two litters from there breeding pair, unfortunitely none have surived the last I knew was they were holding off breeding them.

5? brilliant, i must say i did like the exhibit with the different areas for the Jaguars to move about, are they all mixed in together? or do they keep them seperate and move them about?

They have the breeding pair (spotted) in the desert enclosure who also have access to the paddock at the back of the house. The black jaguar (male) lives in the rainforest exhibit, and the mother/son pairing (spotted) live in the open, waterfall enclosure

The possible breeding pair are kept in the Savannah side, the Black male is kept in the Jungle side and the outside jungle side is a mother and son that has had the snip.

thanks Paul and zoogiraffe!

im still holding out for the Edinburgh pair Tina (spotted) and Mowgli (black) being introduced and breeding however Tina needs lessons in mating, she just rolls over on her back and tries to play with poor Mowgli! he always looks confused by the whole thing

he is about 3 now, she is closer to 9 or 10 the keepers believe (the history of Tina is not clear cut)

I'm sure once Mowgli matures a bit more, he will take control of the mating situation, and show the female who is boss. With her unknown background, i'm surprised the zoo are attempting to breed from her.

she was rescued from a circus and was in a terrible state when she arrived at the zoo

the keepers have worked hard to bring her weight down and her temporary move to the Tiger enclosure has helped her significently due to the height of the enclosure and various climbing logs and platforms, she is looking so healthy now
