Was reading the GuZoo tread...(some of it not all)

I hate when animals is been abused...

but one thing I hate more is people that complains and not doing anything...
I think that those people are also abusing the animal...


So what can be done?

Insted of complaining do something...rais money, give it to the zoo...Insted of just sitt there and read about it help the animals...go there and help make it abetter place if you can do that...

animalpassion: can you link a page about Frinds of GuZoo? so that we can see what it is...
and atleast you do something to help the animals and just not sitt there and do nothing...
 
Everytime someone visits a zoo, they are helping. The entrance fee supports the zoo (and often the zoo's conservation programmes).

Regarding GuZoo: at some point in time money must have been raised (otherwise the friends of GuZoo would be irrelevant), yet there is no evidence of improvement for animal welfare. It must be questioned, in this case, if the money is making the slightest bit of difference to a place like GuZoo.
 
Personally, I would be totally willing to support Guzoo in some capacity if they did the following:

-Stopped accepting and buying more animals until their current animals are in better conditions.

-Stopped breeding animals that suck up resources and take up space, not to mention add to an already surplus population of animals... Mutt Tigers, Lions, Raccoons, Skunks, etc to sell into the private market (no accredited zoo will buy them)

-Drastically downsized their population to a manageable level, rehoming the socially isolated primates to other facilities that are accustomed to introducing humanized primates to others of their own kind.

The fact of the matter is that Guzoo has been under pressure to improve for over a decade, beginning with when they had far fewer animals... they have chosen to continue growing rather then improve the lives of their existing animals, and contribute in no way to conservation, education, or building respect for animals. They have less then 10 paid staff, none of which have training in zoology.

They breed animals that are well known to be overpopulated within the industry and difficult to find decent homes for, so that they can continue with their popular and expensive photo shoots featuring baby exotic animals...when the animal is to old for public encounters, it vanishes, with no explanation as to where it went.

They need to make some huge fundamental changes in the way they operate and view animal husbandry in general before giving them money will do anything but make things worse.
 
your absolut right devonvm...regarding GuZoo I don't think money will solve all the problems, but it can help it in the right direction...but the money must be spend the right way. things has to change in leadership, at least some off the things...

it's strange how things are, if it has a bad reputation, it's hard to do thing right...it's hard to change the things you have done many years...and its hard to change what the public think off the place...

I hope it goes the right direction...


What I do want to know is what peoples are doing. The friends of Guzoo, what have they manage to til now...
Insted of just say "we do somethings" I want to know what they have done, what they do and what their plans are next...

its so easy to sitt by a computer and argue...and everything ends up in nothing exept lots of peoples angry and hurt...

lets find solutions insted...

Its absolute nonsense to say people who complain are also abusive and should give even more money to a place like Guzoo instead. The evidence is very clear that Guzoo can't even be trusted with donations to keep household pets like rabbits healthy let alone exotic and big game animals.

Its quite clear what the friends of Guzoo are doing since at least two have joined this forum. One made ad hominems from the get go without addressing the issues and I found it ironic since he admitted to being 'mentally unstable' after the previous remarks and threats made by the Guzoo owner in response to the first photos.

I'm not saying that people that already give money and do things are abusing...

what I'm after is that a lot of peopls is complaining and NOT doing anything...I was thinking more general...but used guzoo as an exaple

It's like when someone is bulled in school or in work...and everybody is watching and not doing anything... they are bad too...
there are tomany peoples in the world that expect others to fix things when they could do it themself

I'm not going to send money to guzoo, I'm putting my money in other animalresque...

It's not so easy to write what I mean...

Keep on trying assa75. We are all on this forum to learn and share our experiance. Your heart is very obviously in the right place.

So many people love to complain and belittle others. Yet do nothing of real value or make any change.
