Arizona isn't the first place most people think of when considering the ocean, but a new school at ASU is pushing the limit of what's possible for students.

Of all places, right here in the hot, dry desert, the newest school at Arizona State University (ASU) focuses on the ocean.

The new program is providing exciting new opportunities for students and staff to dive into our planet’s oceans, bringing sea life to the desert.

Arizona and dry heat go hand-in-hand, but the future of ASU looks as wet as the ocean.

Considering that the University of Arizona here in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona has an extensive marine biology program, I am not too surprised and I am glad to see this program being implemented at Arizona State University.

You can learn more about the University of Arizona's marine science programs in the following links;

Out of curiosity, where does the school mainly conduct marine field work? Gulf of California is the closest ocean I'd imagine, but southern California would probably be easier because you wouldn't have to cross the border?

Are you asking about the University of Arizona or Arizona State University? If the former, I believe the Gulf of California is where most of their field research takes place, particularly from the Mexican state of Sonora which borders Arizona to the south.
