Armadillo information

I love armadillos I always have, I just don't know a lot about them and obviously if I was to keep them I want to know as much information as possible so I know I can give them the best possible care that I can.

Me too, they're awesome.

I seriously researched getting them a few years ago. To keep them well you'll need to spend quite a lot of money -any enclosure would need a sizeable indoor area and heating during around half of the year. Then you've got the problem of sourcing them -unless you've got good contacts and/or deep pockets you'll struggle to get one (let alone a pair).

All that said, deep deep down, I still one day hope to own a pair. Good luck.

Why would hedgehogs be a good place to start? :)

As an analog. You're in the UK, hedgehogs are easier for you to come by and have similar needs. They're better adapted to the UK weather too. If you can keep them successfully, and when you've got the resources, then you can upgrade to something like an armadillo.

:p

I ditto that. You might want to start things on a lower level.

What breed of hedgehog would you suggest getting?? Would you suggest the African pygmy hedgehog? If so, how come because the are from two different continents?

The African pygmy, or four-toed hedgehog is the most readily available species with abysmal difference. You will find too much hazards in obtaining legally a hedgehog of any other species.

How would continent matter? African pygmy hedhogs are the generic pet hedgehogs so there shouldn't be a problem.
