Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens Article on LA Zoo "privatization"

Although I'm glad that talks could resume soon, I just don't see this working out without the city giving up more of the control to GLAZA.

This is the issue with City Councils they do like to mull over decision-making, but they never seem to want to come up with the finance / goods!
Here you have the sproutings of bureacracy.

I can imagine how the zoo director feels (rings bells of SF Zoo process and deferred ownership).

Somehow missed this! Glad to see this is coming up again and at least the Zoo's councilman is supporting. Since the new mayor wants to charge for parking to solve the city's budget woes, GLAZA should definitely be full throttle on this. Frustrating to see the rest of the council so "meh" about the whole matter.

Generally I detest privatisation, but maybe some good could come of it in this case. To me, it seems like LA zoo is somewhere surrounded by public interest, but one that is also bureaucratic.
