Can anyone provide me with a history of Barbary lions at the Aspinall parks: how they came to acquire them, where from, founder stock etc.

I understand it’s a bit of a contentious issue, given the subspecies legitimacy in captivity, but it would be interesting to know nonetheless.

if you google barbary lions on images you’ll get a lovely little founder family tree that was used in a research paper. It gives you an insight but takes some interpreting. Milo , Moonlight , Saffiya and Kabir all feature on it.
