I know of darli the baby orang that was born to dats but died iv also heard that there r 2 more orangs but I didn't c them there r heaps of other animals but Idk if they r from Auckland or not

There are a few photos in the gallery (Auckland War Memorial Museum Gallery) of the Museum's animals, and it seems likely that some (in addition to Rajah and Darli), especially the exotic mammals, originated from Auckland Zoo.
There are no historical displays on the zoo, such as photos, at the Museum, although presumably they would have such things in their collections.

I was especially interested to see Darli the baby orangutan. That's new since I visited last year although I see she spent 12 years in the freezer. I was quite surprised to see her in a climbing pose, seems a bit unnatural when she still looks like a newborn orangutan and her age of two days is even given on the sign.
I remember the story of her birth well, it was very sad, especially since they lost her mother Dara the next day. Was Darli the name given to her by the zoo? Maybe one of the other orangutans on display is her mother, although if it was I would have thought they would have been exhibited together.
