Aye Ayes

Hi There,

Can anyone give me some info on the captive aye aye population, How many are kept captive and which zoos are keeping them?
I dont belive there are any aye ayes in australian zoos is there, Is this Correct?

Thanks

None in Australia, but I think Bristol zoo has them? I remember seeing an English zoo video on the web of a baby aye aye that was being hand raised.

Bristol, London, Jersey and Edinburgh all keep them. I think the West Midlands Safari Park may have a lone male at the moment too.

Outside of the UK, I think that one of the Zoos in Paris keeps them.

Duke Primate Research centre in the US has had some success with them.

The paris pair went to Edinburgh a couple of years ago. Afiak the european list on ISIS is complete, bare for the single animal at Berlin Zoo (west). Therefore: West Midlands, Bristol, Jersey, London, Edinburgh, Frankfurt and Berlin Zoo.
